All variants of the the Poly Technologies AK-47's shipped with this "L shaped" gas port cleaning tool. This particular ¿L¿ shaped Gas Port cleaning tool is an original Poly Technologies part that shipped with the AKS-762, AK47/S and all other PolyTech AK variants.

After several rounds of firing, the AK47 is known to leave carbon build-up and fouling in the gas port. The gas port is a small hole drilled in the barrel and allows the gas blow-back to release into the gas tube assembly and cycle the AK-47 rifle. If the hole is plugged your AK rifle will not cycle correctly.

The gas port tool is inserted into the port and rotated in a clock-wise direction. The fluted channels scrape the carbon build-up without damaging the gas port itself, and remove the carbon with ease. It is recommended that you do not oil any part of the gas system on your AK-47 weapon. The tool can also be used for removing other residue or carbon build-up in the chamber and bolt area of your PolyTech AK47 or most other AK variants.
